The first issue — where fashion meets self-expression

Welcome to the first issue of our urban streetwear magazine, where fashion meets identity and self-expression. This issue celebrates individuality, creativity and the influence of street culture on modern style. Our aim is to represent a diverse youth audience aged 16–25 who use clothing as a way to communicate personality and confidence. Inside, you will find bold photography, trend features and exclusive insights into the inspirations behind contemporary streetwear. We have carefully designed this magazine to reflect the values of originality and authenticity that define the genre. We hope this issue inspires you to experiment with fashion and express your own unique style.

Our urban streetwear magazine will target a young, style-conscious audience aged 16–25 who are interested in contemporary fashion, music culture and self-expression. As an A Level Media student following the Eduqas specification, I aim to show my understanding of how media products use conventions, representation and audience positioning to communicate meaning. My magazine will follow the codes and conventions of the streetwear genre, including bold typography, high-quality photography and a modern layout inspired by magazines such as Hypebeast and Complex.

The purpose of my magazine is to represent youth culture in an authentic but aspirational way, showing diversity and individuality within modern street fashion. I plan to use close-up and mid-shot photography to highlight clothing details and identity, while using a consistent colour palette to create a recognisable brand style. My cover lines will focus on themes such as sneaker culture, creativity and the influence of music on fashion, reflecting key ideas within the streetwear community.

Through this project I aim to demonstrate my ability to plan, design and produce a media product that appeals to a clearly defined audience. I will apply media theory such as representation and audience appeal to ensure my magazine communicates effectively and reflects contemporary urban culture.

"Fashion is not just clothing — it is the language of the streets, spoken without words."

The Manifesto

Urban Street Wear is a brand built by young people who love fashion, love the streets, and love looking good. We make clothes for real life — not for runways.

We started this brand because we wanted clothes that actually fit our lifestyle. Good quality, clean designs, fair prices. Clothes you'll actually want to wear every day.

Our urban streetwear magazine will target a young, style-conscious audience aged 16–25 who are interested in contemporary fashion, music culture and self-expression. As an A Level Media student following the Eduqas specification, this project demonstrates an understanding of how media products use conventions, representation and audience positioning to communicate meaning.

The magazine follows the codes and conventions of the streetwear genre — bold typography, high-quality photography and a modern layout inspired by magazines such as Hypebeast and Complex. The purpose is to represent youth culture in an authentic but aspirational way, showing diversity and individuality within modern street fashion.

Media theory such as representation and audience appeal has been applied to ensure the magazine communicates effectively and reflects contemporary urban culture. Close-up and mid-shot photography highlights clothing details and identity, while a consistent colour palette creates a recognisable brand identity throughout every page.
